I just watched this TedX talk presentation by Shawn Cornally on the “Future of Education without Coercion” and I agree with almost everything he says. I think this is a fascinating talk and something that should be explored and opened up for schools in Utah to pilot. Rigid school days are stupid. We’ve got to open up the inspiration, motivation, and opportunities for discovery for our children. This isn’t to say we don’t have formal training in subjects where that is important, but there’s got to be time for children to dig into things they are fascinated by where a clock isn’t involved in stopping their progress.
