The Trivium: Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric
Dave Mallinak is Pastor of the Berean Baptist Church in Ogden and Superintendent of their Christian private school. Their school utilizes what is called the Trivium which is a classical education tool that emphasizes the grammar, logic, and rhetoric of each subject. As students learn to master these tools of learning, they are equipped to learn for themselves. One quote I particularly liked from Dave’s presentation is from G.M. Trevelyan: “Education has produced a vast population able to read but unable to distinguish what is worth reading.”
